Dates:
Sunday, September 18
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; Lunch at Noon
Where: Behind the Museum in the trees at a picnic table
What to do: - bring a potluck dish for at least 6 people
- dress in Garb (not just a cloak over your mundane clothes please!)
- bring a game to play or something period to do
- have fun!
Notes:
- the times set are when you can expect someone to be at the park
- Picnics will happen in good weather (use your best judgement)
- Picnics will always be in the specified place
- if all the picnic tables are taken (not likely, based on past
experience), Titus and Genevieve will have a table there to use, so keep
looking for them in that area. They aren't hard to spot. Really!
6. If there is something you'd like to teach, or something you'd like to
learn, please tell the Seneschal, Chatelaine, Arts & Science Minister,
or me, and we'll make sure your voice is heard when it's time to choose
meeting topics.
And that's the news for this week.
A note to all those receiving this mass email: once a week
(approximately mid-week) I send out this Shire Crier as an update and
reminder of what is coming up. If you do not wish to receive this email,
please let me know and I will take you off the list. Otherwise, I hope
you find it useful. If you wish to stay on the list when you change
email addresses, please send me your updated address; it will make it
easier for these messages to find you.

Greetings to the shire of Sigelhundas:
Welcome to the weekly email announcements for the Shire of Sigelhundas,
the Regina branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism. This is the
Shire Crier for August 9, 2011, or Anno Societatis XLVI. Here’s what’s new:
1. This week's meeting: Sunday, August 14. This meeting will be our
monthly curia. Please come to this meeting; a motion will be entertained
to name the dogs in our arms after Sam and Max, Gordon Webb’s Labrador
retrievers. Wrong breed, of course, but the “boys” won’t mind, as it’ll
give them a chance to run rampant again. There will apparently be a road
named after Gordon at Quad War, so this is a way to honour his canine
companions.
Our weekly meetings are held Sundays at 7:00 p.m. in room 431 of the
Classroom Building. Medieval garb not required; enthusiasm is recommended.

Greetings, my friends:
Welcome to the weekly email announcements for the Shire of Sigelhundas,
the Regina branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism. This is the
Shire Crier for August 2, 2011, or Anno Societatis XLVI. Here’s what’s new:
1. This week's meeting: Sunday, August 7. This meeting will be our
monthly dance practice. WE could use the new CD of medieval dance music
that I bought from Heather Dale at Quad War. She’s very good; I wish I
could have heard more of her singing. I really wish I could have
afforded more (ALL!) of the CDs she had for sale.
Oh, yeah: there is ALSO this year's penultimate period potluck picnic in
the park this Sunday, from 11 to 2. Bring Food and Games. Bring Garb.
Bring yourself. Bring a friend, and get them hooked on the SCA too.
Garb IS required for picnics, though we won't set the Period Police
after the newcomers.
Our weekly meetings are held Sundays at 7:00 p.m. in room 431 of the
Classroom Building. Medieval garb not required; enthusiasm is recommended.

University, in room LI215 of the Language Institute.
4. Heavy Fight Practice: If there are any heavy fighters out there, I
need to borrow you and your armour, please, for a Chirurgeons’ practice
session in How To Remove Armour Safely. It could be at a regular project
night meeting, or at a time and place mutually agreeable. Th latter may
be preferable, since armour can be heavy and awkward in an elevator.
Perhaps we could do it at a picnic?? Please contact me with a reply to
this email. Thanks!

the Regina branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism. This is the
Shire Crier for July 26, 2011, or Anno Societatis XLVI. Here’s what’s new:
1. This week's meeting: Sunday, July 17. This meeting will be a project
class, as it’s the regular schedule for one, and because several among
us will be at Quad War.
Our weekly meetings are held Sundays at 7:00 p.m. in room 431 of the
Classroom Building. Medieval garb not required; enthusiasm is recommended.
2. Future meetings and events:
August 7, 11:00 a.m.: Period Potluck Picnic in the Park;
August 7 (evening): Dance practice (to wear off some of the calories
from the picnic);
August 14: Curia;
August 21: Jewellery Making, by Lana;

Sept 4 (Labour Day weekend): Dance Practice

3. Quad War: July 28-August 1, north of Marsden Saskatchewan. Many
activities available; see the website at
http://avacal-sca.org/quadwar/index.htm
One activity will be some sort of memorial for our dear friend Gordon;
the Prince and Princess will honour him at Their Court, and there may
well be other ceremonies. I have seen nothing in the news or online of
his death; hopefully there will be more details available soon.
4. Rapier Practice: Held on Tuesday evenings, from 7 - 10 p.m. at the
University, in room LI215 of the Language Institute.
5. Heavy Fight Practice: Do we have anyone practicing? Any heavies? Hello??
6. SCA Period Potluck Picnics in the Park:
Kick back with some period relaxation, and enjoy a Sunday potluck with
your SCA friends.

6. The SCAToday website at http://www.scatoday.net/ has news of the 2010
census, which was conducted last year, and news of an announcement from
the Board of Directors regarding electronic newsletters. There were 17
821 responses to the census, which was available from August 1 to
December 1 last year. The link includes the history of the census and
the first release of census data. It’s very interesting reading.
7. If there is something you’d like to teach, or something you’d like to
learn, please tell the Seneschal, Chatelaine, Arts & Science Minister,
or me, and we’ll make sure your voice is heard when it’s time to choose
